Adult Learning Center (ALC)

A service of Bozeman Public Schools, ALC provides educational and career opportunities through skill development and job search help.

Aware

Aware is a non-profit organization that contracts with the state of Montana to provide services to people with developmental disabilities and other needs. Aware has offices in several locations around the state of Montana. In the Bozeman area they are tasked with providing targeted case management for those with developmental disabilities.

Bozeman Job Service

Bozeman Job Service is one of numerous Montana Job Service offices around the state. It provides employment listings, job matching and training, Veteran resources, and counseling. It also provides computers and other office equipment and services for employment searches.

Family Outreach, Inc.

Family Outreach is a non-profit organization that contracts with the state of Montana to provide services to people with developmental disabilities and other needs. The focus of their program is to teach families and friends how to teach skills to children and adults with special needs. Family Outreach also educates families about their child’s disability and provides information about resources and services they may need. Adult services focus on increasing independence, daily living, employment, and social interaction of the client so that they can live as independently as possible.

HRDC is a non-profit community action agency dedicated to building a better community through innovation and leadership. They provide programs and services in the areas of housing, food and nutrition, child and youth development, senior empowerment, community transportation, home heating, and community development.

Montana Achievement Project (MAP)

MAP contracts with the state of Montana to provide employment support, independent living support, and recreational activities for those having a Developmental Disability (DD) waiver.

Montana Independent Living Project (mILp)

mILp is a non-profit agency promoting independence for people living with disabilities who are residing in the state of Montana.They do so by providing assistance in daily living skills (e.g., budgeting, menu and meal planning, meal preparation and cooking, and grocery shopping), identifying and applying for community resources (e.g., Medicaid services and waivers, Medicare benefits, SNAP benefits, energy assistance, and Meals on Wheels), and sponsoring several support and recreational groups. mILp also assists youth on an Individualized Education Program (IEP) program that are transitioning from secondary education to postsecondary life.

Reach, Inc.

Reach is a non-profit organization that contracts with the state of Montana to provide employment support, housing options, independent living support, and recreational activities to individuals with developmental disabilities. Many of these services are available using personal income rather than DD waiver funds.

Vocational Rehabilitation (Voc Rehab)

Voc Rehab is a state governmental program with regional offices around the state. It provides support to individuals with disabilities as the seek, obtain, train for employment in their communities. The support continues until the client is established in their position.

Youth Dynamics

Youth Dynamics is a non-profit organization that’s goal is to provide mental health treatment for kids with behavioral challenges and to offer support and resources to their families.Their services include therapy, case management, family education and support, foster and respite care, mentoring, therapeutic youth home care, equine-assisted therapy, substance abuse treatment, and independent living skills.

Bozeman Area Special Education Parent Teacher Association (SEPTA)

SEPTA is a coalition of families, teachers, administrators, and other advocates united in the effort to promote quality education and services for individuals with special needs and their families. In addition to a yearly Special Needs Expo, SEPTA provides the following services: IEP Buddy, Resource Audit, and Financial Planning/Budgeting Support.

Gallatin Early Childhood Community Council (ECCC)

ECCC brings together community leaders who collaborate to support early childhood growth and development.

Head Start Programs (Belgrade, Bozeman, Livingston)

Head Start programs are preschool programs administered by HRDC for children ages 3 - 5.

MSU’s Life Scholars program’s mission is to educate and provide students with intellectual and developmental disabilities a fully inclusive post-secondary college experience that promotes life-long learning, self determination, social engagement and career development.

Thrive provides Gallatin Valley families with the resources, tools, and support they need to raise healthy, successful children. They provide mentoring, education, and support to children and families through various programs including CAP mentors and recreational activities.

Family Promise of Gallatin Valley

Family Promise is a non-profit organization working with a large base of local volunteers to provide shelter, meals, training, and many other necessities to homeless families.

Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, thus providing decent housing for those who might otherwise be unable to afford it. The program requires sweat equity from those individuals or families who receive the home.

Court Appointed Special Advocates/Guardian Ad Litem (CASA/GAL)of Gallatin County

CASA/GAL of Gallatin County is a non-profit corporation dedicated to advocating for abused and neglected children in the court system and helping them attain the safe, loving and permanent homes that every child deserves. A CASA/GAL is an adult volunteer advocate who has completed the NCASA training course so that they are able to represent what is in the child’s best interest to the Court in an abuse and neglect case.

Gallatin Legal Assistance Clinic (GLAC)

GLAC is an independent program organized by a group of Gallatin County volunteer legal professionals. GLAC provides free legal assistance to people with limited income who are representing themselves in family law legal matters.

HRDC

HRDC is a non-profit Community Action Agency dedicated to building a better community through innovation and leadership. They provide programs and services in the areas of housing, food & nutrition, child & youth development, senior empowerment, community transportation, home heating, and community development.

Montana Legal Services Association (MLSA)

MLSA provides non-criminal legal information, advice, and representation in all counties to Montanans living in poverty.

The help center provides information, outreach, direct services, advocacy, crisis counseling and therapy to individuals in need.

Bridger Care

Bridger Care provides affordable reproductive and sexual healdcare and education.

Community Health Partners (CHP)

CHP provides low cost or no cost medical care to qualifying individuals.

Gallatin Mental Health Center (GMHC)

GMHC provides integrated, individual services for mental health.

Human Development Clinic

The Human Development Clinic is staffed by faculty and graduate students in the counseling program within the Department of Health and Human Development at Montana State University (MSU). Services are offered to members of the community and to students and staff of MSU. The clinic provides low-cost mental health services to adults and children of the Gallatin Valley while serving as a training facility for graduate students in marriage and family counseling and mental health counseling. All graduate student counselors are supervised by university faculty who are licensed mental health professionals.

St. Catherine Family Health Care Clinic

This Belgrade clinic provides primary care for the entire family.

Down Syndrome Research Education Advocacy in Montana (DREAM)

DREAM consists of a diverse group of parents in the Gallatin Valley and surrounding areas with young children with Down syndrome. They meet once a month to allow their children to play with each other while the parents discuss Down syndrome specific topics.

Eagle Mount

Eagle Mount has a variety of programs that provide recreational and social outlets for children and adults with developmental and other disabilities. These include winter sports, swimming, equestrian experiences, and horticulture programs. Eagle Mount also provides support activities for their families

Special Olympics Montana

The Bozeman area is home to many special olympics teams. For school age children, the teams are often sponsored by their school district. Numerous adult teams also exist and accept new athletes.

Transportation

Galavan

Galavan is an HRDC program that provides door-to-door transportation service for senior citizens and persons with disabilities. Rides are provided for residents of Bozeman, Belgrade, Manhattan, and Three Forks.

Streamline Bus

Streamline is an HRDC program that offers fare-free service throughout the Bozeman area. Their routes provide service to and from Bozeman, Belgrade, Four Corners, Livingston and seasonal routes to Bridger Bowl. Streamline also connects with the Skyline Bus System for travel to and from Big Sky.

Montana Fair Housing (Butte)

Montana Fair Housing is a private, full service, non-profit organization dedicated to the elimination of housing discrimination, and the advancement of civil rights. They investigate allegations of discrimination in housing, counsel victims of discrimination, and facilitate both the state and federal complaint process. They also assist victims of housing discrimination, under specific circumstances, in securing the representation of counsel when the filing of a complaint in court is deemed the best option. They also maintain, and will provide on request, a list of housing that should be accessible to persons using a wheelchair for mobility, and that should be available to all applicants on a non-discriminatory basis. They can provide dispute resolution services upon request.

Montana Home Choice Coalition (Helena)

The Montana Home Choice Coalition is a coalition of Montana citizens; advocates; providers; federal, state, tribal, and local agencies; housing financiers; realtors; and the home-building industry working together to create better community housing choices for all people with disabilities.

Montana-USDA Rural Development

The Montana-USDA Rural Development program focuses on helping to improve the economy and quality of life in Montana. They offer loans, grants and loan guarantees to support essential services, including housing. They help residents buy or rent safe, affordable housing and make health and safety repairs to their homes.

Recreation

Charles Campbell Camp

Supported by Billings area Lions Clubs, this week long camp is in a beautiful location south of Red Lodge, MT.

Optimists Children’s Camp

Supported by Billings area Optimist Clubs, this week long camp is held at the same location as the Charles Campbell Camp. Eligible campers are those with developmental disabilities from the age of 8 to 21.
 

Center for Disease Control (CDC) Developmental Milestones

A list of developmental milestones which allows parents to identify and respond early to developmental delays.

Child and Family Services Division (CFSD)

CFSD’s mission is to protect children who have been or are at substantial risk of abuse, neglect or abandonment.They have county offices at which concerns about a child’s safety can be reported.

Gallatin County Health Department

The Gallatin County Health Department provides information about environmental health and emergency preparedness. They also provide a number of services including immunizations WIC nutrition services, and preventative cancer screenings.

Gallatin County Self Help Law Center (SHLC)

SHLC provides legal information about civil legal matters, focusing primarily on family law and landlord/tenant information. They cannot provide legal advice.

Healthy Montana Kids (HMK)

HMK Children's Health Insurance Plan is a state program that offers a free or low-cost health insurance plan to eligible Montana children up to age 19. Covered services include medical, dental, eyeglasses, and other related services.

Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP)

This Montana Department of Health and Human Services (DPHHS) provides funds to qualifying individuals to decrease their home heating costs.

Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS)

DPHHS houses numerous programs (e.g., SNAP, TANF, Health Coverage Assistance) that provide services and support for individuals with disabilities or mental illness.

Montana Health Care Programs

DPHHS provides healthcare services to help improve and protect the health and safety of some low-income Montanans. DPHHS reimburses private and public providers for a wide range of preventive, primary, and acute care services. Major service providers include: physicians, public health departments, clinics, hospitals, dentists, pharmacies, durable medical equipment, and mental health providers.

Montana Human Rights Bureau

The Montana Human Rights Bureau enforces certain state and federal laws that prohibit unlawful discrimination in several areas, including education, housing, and employment.

Montana Lifespan Respite Coalition (MLRC)

MLRC helps provide respite to primary caregivers of individuals with disabilities or the elderly. They define respite as "planned or emergency care provided to an individual with need for support and supervision in order to provide temporary relief to the primary caregiver of that individual".

Montana Mental Disabilities Board of Visitors

The Board conducts reviews of Montana's public mental health programs and the Montana Developmental Center and assists individuals receiving services from these programs. They can be contacted for complaints about quality care.

Montana Milestones Part C Early Intervention Program

Montana Milestones/Part C of the IDEA Early Intervention Program is Montana’s comprehensive system of early intervention services and supports for families who have infants or toddlers, from birth through three who have significant developmental delays or disabilities or have been diagnosed with an established condition associated with significant delays in development.

National Park Service Access Pass

This free pass is available for: U.S. citizens or permanent residents with permanent disabilities. Applicants must provide documentation of permanent disability and residency or citizenship.

Office of Public Assistance (OPA)

Provides access to benefits such as TANF and SNAP.

Public Defenders Office (OPD)

The mission of OPD is to provide effective professional legal services with equal access to quality client-centered representation.OPD consists of 11 regions throughout the state including trial, conflict and appellate divisions, and maintains offices in approximately 15 cities around Montana, including Bozeman.

Social Security Administration (SSA)

SSA provides benefits to those with developmental and other disabilities through Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Income (SSDI).

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)

Formerly called food stamps, SNAP benefits are a program administered by the Montana DPHHS.

Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)

TANF is a program providing temporary financial assistance to needy families. The receipt of TANF cash assistance is limited to 60 months in an adult's lifetime.
